US diesel prices rise to record $6.3 per gallon

ISTANBUL

Average diesel prices in the US hit a fresh record high on Wednesday, reaching $6.3 per gallon, American Automobile Association data showed.

Last week, the price of diesel exceeded the $6 threshold due to increasing global oil prices, American Automobile Association data showed.

Diesel prices vary among US states, with California seeing the highest price at $8.2 per gallon.

Brent futures were trading at $107.7, down 1% day-on-day but up 6.4% on a weekly basis as of 0730GMT; WTI was trading at $104.

Last week, US President Donald Trump said current high energy prices are related to US efforts to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.
