US Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo will travel to China later this month.

The three-day visit starting on Aug. 27 comes at an invitation of Chinese Commerce Minister Wang Wentao.

Raimondo will be traveling to China’s capital Beijing and Shanghai to have discussions with high-ranking Chinese officials and US business leaders, said a US Commerce Department statement.

“While in the PRC (People’s Republic of China), Secretary Raimondo looks forward to constructive discussions on issues relating to the US-China commercial relationship, challenges faced by US businesses, and areas for potential cooperation,” the statement said.

Earlier, Beijing welcomed the US move to lift 27 Chinese entities from the “Unverified List.”

It “indicates that both sides can address specific concerns through communications on the basis of mutual respect,” said Wang Wenbin, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, and climate envoy John Kerry are three high-level US officials who visited Beijing in the past two months.
