US athlete Amit Elor won a gold medal at 72 kilos at the World Wrestling Championships in Belgrade on Thursday.

The 19-year-old clinched her second championship in a row by beating Mongolia’s Davaanasan Enkh Amar 8-2 in the final.

“It’s incredible. I feel like time is passing so fast,” Elor told Anadolu, “All these practices, all these days are still there, just accumulated. It feels like I was just here last year. Here I am again. I’m still in shock, even after last year.”

Regarding her second straight gold medal win, she said: “I feel a sense of familiarity, especially that this is in Belgrade again. I love this arena. And I just feel like I’m acting more experienced because of last year. But that doesn’t make it any easier. It’s a tough competition.”

“I think I was just a little cautious, a little careful. Kind of practicing, not taking as many risks, kind of holding on and being patient with your attacks…But you know, a win is a win. I’m really happy to be a world champion.”

Elor also touched on her Olympics dream and the importance of choosing the right weight class for herself.

“It’s been my dream ever since I can remember, since I was a little girl. And this is a really, really big year that’s coming. But unfortunately, there’s the weight. The weight classes for the world championships are different than the weight classes for the Olympics. There’s less for the Olympics. And so that is a challenge for me to figure out what weight is best for my body.”
