The unemployment rate in the eurozone was at 6.4% in April, down from 6.5% in March, Eurostat revealed on Thursday.
The rate remained unchanged at 6% on the EU side, the 27-member bloc’s statistical authority announced.
According to Eurostat’s estimation, there are 13.15 million unemployed persons in the EU, of whom some 11 million are in the euro area.
Compared with March 2024, unemployment decreased by 103,000 in the EU and by 100,000 in the euro area, while they went up by 95,000 and 101,000, respectively, on a yearly basis.
In April 2024, 2.8 million young persons – under 25 – were unemployed in the EU, of whom 2.27 million were in the euro area; the youth unemployment rate was 14.4% in the EU, and 14.1% in the euro area.
