UK urges citizens in Lebanon to register presence amid heightened tensions

LONDON

The British government on Wednesday asked its citizens in Lebanon to register their presence to receive the latest information as tensions escalate in the region.

In a latest statement, the Foreign Office reiterated that it advises against all travel to Lebanon.

“If you are a British national in Lebanon, you should register your presence to receive the latest information,” said the Foreign Office in the latest update.

UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy had earlier urged all British nationals in Lebanon.

Tensions have escalated since a missile attack in Majdal Shams, Israeli-occupied Golan Heights on Saturday, and Israeli strike targeting Hezbollah leader Fuad Shukr in southern Beirut.

Hours after the attack in the Lebanese capital, a strike in Tehran killed Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh.
