Türkiye’s retail sales rebound in March

Türkiye’s retail sales rebounded on a monthly basis in March, following a decline in the aftermath of the February twin quakes, according to official data released on Friday.

Retail sales volume increased 7.3% month-on-month in March, the strongest surge in 21 months, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) said.

Non-food sales – except automotive fuel – rose 12.1% from a month ago, while automotive fuel sales jumped 3.8%.

Food, drinks and tobacco sales, on the other hand, fell 0.2%.

On an annual basis, retail sales soared 28.6% in March, gaining momentum from February’s 21.7% hike.

Non-food sales – except automotive fuel – surged 38% year-on-year in March.

Sales of food, drinks and tobacco grew 17% compared to last year, while automotive fuel sales increased 17.8%, TurkStat data showed.
