Türkiye’s total oil imports increased by 1.5% to 4.18 million tons in March 2024 compared to the same month in 2023, according to recent data released by the country’s energy watchdog on Thursday.
Crude oil imports, the category with the highest oil import volume, rose by 6.1% in March to 2.68 million tons, the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA) said in its monthly report.
Türkiye imported the majority of its oil and oil product needs from Russia in March, totaling 1.62 million tons. Iraq and Kazakhstan followed with 459,444 tons and 172,676 tons, respectively.
Oil refinery product exports increased by 50.2% to 1.70 million tons, while output also rose by 8.5% to 3.12 million tons.
Additionally, domestic oil product sales increased by 4.1% year over year in March to 2.64 million tons.
