Türkiye’s debt stock at $231.1B as of end-April

ISTANBUL

The Turkish central government’s debt stock was 7.49 trillion Turkish liras ($231.1 billion) as of end of April, the country’s Treasury and Finance Ministry revealed on Monday.

The domestic debt stock totaled 3.56 trillion liras ($109.8 billion) while external debt amounted to 3.93 trillion liras ($121.3 billion), official figures showed.

The debt stock in Turkish liras was at 2.8 trillion liras ($86.6 billion) while foreign exchange debt stock was at 4.68 trillion liras ($144.5 billion).

The total debt stock was at 4.59 trillion liras ($235.9 billion) in April 2023, and 6.73 trillion liras ($228.5 billion) at the end of the last year.

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 32.4 at the end of April 2024, 29.45 at the end of 2023, and 19.45 at the end of April 2023.
