Türkiye’s daily wind power generation hits all time high on Sunday

Türkiye’s wind electricity generation hit an all-time record on Sunday, generating 27.8% of total power, according to data from Türkiye’s Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) on Monday.

The country produced 207,906 megawatt-hours (MWh) of electricity from wind farms on Sunday, according to data provided by TEIAS.

The previous record was made on Nov. 21, when the country produced 204,375 MWh of electricity from wind.

Imported coal and lignite plants followed as the biggest sources of power generation at 21.4% and 17.3%, respectively.

Daily electricity production totaled 747,911 megawatt-hours on Sunday, while daily electricity consumption amounted to 759,449 megawatt-hours.

Hourly power consumption peaked at 35,785 megawatt-hours at 7 p.m. local time (1600 GMT), data from TEIAS showed. The country’s electricity usage dropped to its lowest level of 27,204 megawatt-hours at 5 a.m. local time (0200 GMT).

On Sunday, Türkiye’s electricity exports amounted to 7,652 megawatt-hours and imports totaled 19,190 megawatt-hours.
