Türkiye’s daily power consumption up 7%

The daily electricity consumption in Türkiye increased by 7% on Sunday compared to the previous day, totaling 742,101 megawatt-hours, according to official figures of the Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) on Monday.

Hourly power consumption peaked at 37,001 megawatt-hours at 10 p.m. local time (1900 GMT), data from TEIAS showed.

The country’s electricity usage dropped to its lowest level of 23,388 megawatt-hours at 7 a.m. local time (0400 GMT).

Electricity production reached 737,831 megawatt-hours on Sunday, marking an increase of 5.8% compared to Saturday.

Electricity production from imported coal plants constituted 26.3% of total generation, while hydroelectric plants and lignite plants contributed 22.5% and 11%, respectively.

On Sunday, the country’s electricity exports amounted to 2,783 megawatt-hours, and its imports totaled 7,053 megawatt-hours.
