Türkiye’s daily power consumption up 21.72% on Jan. 24

Daily electricity consumption in Türkiye increased by 21.72% on Tuesday compared to the previous day, totaling 917,571 megawatt-hours, according to official figures of Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) on Wednesday.

Hourly power consumption peaked at 43,885 megawatt-hours at 12 p.m. local time (0900 GMT), data from TEIAS showed. The country’s electricity usage dropped to the lowest level of 30,598 megawatt-hours at 5 a.m. local time (0200 GMT).

Electricity production amounted to 900,685 megawatt-hours on Tuesday marking an increase of 4.10% compared to Monday.

Electricity production from natural gas plants constituted 30.1% of total generation, while imported coal and lignite plants contributed 24.6% and 13.6% respectively.

On Tuesday, the country’s electricity exports amounted to 8,873 megawatt-hours and imports totaled 25,758 megawatt-hours.
