Türkiye’s daily power consumption up 16.7% on May 22

Daily electricity consumption in Türkiye increased 16.7% on Monday compared to the previous day, totaling 846,915 megawatt-hours, according to official figures of Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) on Tuesday.

Hourly power consumption peaked at 41,221 megawatt-hours at 12 p.m. local time (0900 GMT), data from TEIAS showed. The country’s electricity usage dropped to the lowest level of 26,491 megawatt-hours at 7 a.m. local time (0400 GMT).

Electricity production amounted to 837,411 megawatt-hours on Monday, marking an increase of 17.6% compared to Sunday.

Electricity production from hydroelectricity plants constituted 19% of total generation, while imported coal and natural gas plants contributed 16% and 14.5%, respectively.

On Monday, the country’s electricity exports amounted to 3,410 megawatt-hours and imports totaled 12,913 megawatt-hours.
