Türkiye’s daily power consumption up 15.2% on Feb. 9

Daily electricity consumption in Türkiye increased by around 15.2% on Monday compared to the previous day, totaling 985,897 megawatt-hours, according to official figures of Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) released on Tuesday.

Hourly power consumption peaked at 48,048 megawatt-hours at 11 a.m. local time (0800 GMT), data from TEIAS showed. The country’s electricity usage dropped to the lowest level of 30,370 megawatt-hours at 5 a.m. local time (0200 GMT).

Electricity production amounted to 993,604 megawatt-hours on Monday, marking a rise of 14.7% compared to Sunday.

Electricity production from imported coal plants accounted for around 24% of total generation, while hydroelectricity and natural gas plants contributed 18.3% and 17%, respectively.

On Monday, the country’s electricity exports totaled 12,701 megawatt-hours, while imports amounted to 5,003 megawatt-hours.
