Türkiye’s daily power consumption up 11% on May 18

Daily electricity consumption in Türkiye increased by around 11% on Monday compared to the previous day, totaling 919,681 megawatt-hours, according to official figures of Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) released on Tuesday.

Hourly power consumption peaked at 44,235 megawatt-hours at 12 p.m. local time (0900 GMT), data from TEIAS showed. The country’s electricity usage dropped to the lowest level of 29,881 megawatt-hours at 5 a.m. local time (0200 GMT).

Electricity production amounted to 924,964 megawatt-hours on Monday, marking a rise of about 10.7% compared to the previous day.

Electricity production from dam-based hydro plants accounted for around 34.1% of total generation, while solar and natural gas contributed 15.7% and 13.9%, respectively.

On Monday, the country’s electricity exports totaled 10,216 megawatt-hours, while imports amounted to 4,847 megawatt-hours.
