Türkiye’s daily power consumption down 9.8% on Aug. 30

Daily electricity consumption in Türkiye decreased by 9.8% on Friday compared to the previous day, totaling 977,757 megawatt-hours, according to official figures of the Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) on Saturday.

Hourly power consumption peaked at 46,218 megawatt-hours at 5 p.m. local time (1400 GMT), data from TEIAS showed.

The country’s electricity usage dropped to the lowest level of 32,547 megawatt-hours at 7 a.m. local time (0400 GMT).

Electricity production amounted to 978,165 megawatt-hours on Friday, marking a decrease of 9.9% compared to Thursday.

Electricity production from imported coal plants constituted 23.9% of total generation, while natural gas and hydropower plants contributed 22.7% and 13.5%, respectively.

On Thursday, the country’s electricity exports amounted to 13,346 megawatt-hours and imports totaled 12,827 megawatt-hours.
