Türkiye’s daily power consumption down 6% on Feb. 28

Daily electricity consumption in Türkiye decreased by around 6% on Saturday compared to the previous day, totaling 990,770 megawatt-hours, according to official figures of Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) released on Sunday.

Hourly power consumption peaked at 45,417 megawatt-hours at 7 p.m. local time (1600 GMT), data from TEIAS showed. The country’s electricity usage dropped to the lowest level of 35,763 megawatt-hours at 4 a.m. local time (0100 GMT).

Electricity production amounted to 993,805 megawatt-hours on Saturday, marking a decrease of 6% compared to Friday.

Electricity production from dam-based hydropower plants accounted for around 25% of total generation, while imported coal and wind plants contributed 17.3% and 17.2%, respectively.

On Saturday, the country’s electricity exports totaled 8,622 megawatt-hours, while imports amounted to 5,539 megawatt-hours.
