Türkiye’s daily power consumption down 2.7% on March 24

Daily electricity consumption in Türkiye decreased by 2.7% on Friday compared to the previous day, totaling 848,348 megawatt-hours, according to official figures of Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) on Saturday.

Hourly power consumption peaked at 39,460 megawatt-hours at 12.00 p.m. local time (0900 GMT), data from TEIAS showed. The country’s electricity usage dropped to the lowest level of 30,683 megawatt-hours at 7 a.m. local time (0400 GMT).

Electricity production amounted to 833,257 megawatt-hours on Friday, marking a decrease of 3% compared to Thursday.

Electricity production from natural gas plants constituted 26% of total generation, while imported coal and lignite power plants contributed 21.8% and 12.7%, respectively.

On Friday, the country’s electricity exports amounted to 4,389 megawatt-hours and imports totaled 19,357 megawatt-hours.
