Türkiye’s daily power consumption down 2.1% on Feb. 29

Daily electricity consumption in Türkiye decreased by 2.1% on Thursday compared to the previous day, totaling 902,667 megawatt-hours, according to official figures of Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) on Friday.

Hourly power consumption peaked at 42,315 megawatt-hours at 8 p.m. local time (1700 GMT), data from TEIAS showed.

The country’s electricity usage dropped to the lowest level of 31,109 megawatt-hours at 4 a.m. local time (0100 GMT).

Electricity production amounted to 901,938 megawatt-hours on Thursday, marking a fall of 2% compared to Wednesday.

Electricity production from imported coal plants constituted 24.4% of total generation, while hydroelectricity plants and natural gas plants contributed 21.6% and 17.1%, respectively.

On Thursday, the country’s electricity exports amounted to 4,784 megawatt-hours and imports totaled 5,524 megawatt-hours.
