Türkiye’s daily power consumption down 16% on April 20

Daily electricity consumption in Türkiye decreased 16% on Thursday compared to the previous day, totaling 663,231 megawatt-hours, according to official figures of Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) on Friday.

Hourly power consumption peaked at 30,561 megawatt-hours at 10 p.m. local time (1900 GMT), data from TEIAS showed. The country’s electricity usage dropped to the lowest level of 22,847 megawatt-hours at 8 a.m. local time (0500 GMT).

Electricity production amounted to 664,854 megawatt-hours on Thursday, marking a decrease of 15.8% compared to Wednesday.

Electricity production from hydroelectricity plants constituted 20.7% of total generation, while run-of-the-river and imported coal plants contributed 17.6% and 14.8%, respectively.

On Thursday, the country’s electricity exports amounted to 7,321 megawatt-hours and imports totaled 5,698 megawatt-hours.
