Türkiye’s daily power consumption down 12.1% on March 9

Daily electricity consumption in Türkiye decreased 12.1% on Sunday compared to the previous day, totaling 780,252 megawatt-hours, according to official figures of Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) on Monday.

Hourly power consumption peaked at 37,599 megawatt-hours at 9 p.m. local time (1800 GMT), data from TEIAS showed. The country’s electricity usage dropped to the lowest level of 27,469 megawatt-hours at 9 a.m. local time (0600 GMT).

Electricity production amounted to 792,098 megawatt-hours on Sunday, marking a decrease of 11.8% compared to Saturday.

Electricity production from imported coal plants constituted 23% of total generation, while natural gas plants and lignite plants contributed 22.2% and 11.7%, respectively.

On Sunday, the country’s electricity exports amounted to 14,651 megawatt-hours and imports totaled 2,805 megawatt-hours.
