Türkiye’s daily power consumption down 11% on Oct. 8

Daily electricity consumption in Türkiye decreased by 11% on Sunday compared to the previous day, totaling 731,382 megawatt-hours, according to official figures of Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) on Monday.

Hourly power consumption peaked at 35,083 megawatt-hours at 8 p.m. local time (1700 GMT), data from TEIAS showed.

The country’s electricity usage dropped to the lowest level of 26,094 megawatt-hours at 8 a.m. local time (0500 GMT).

Electricity production amounted to 717,380 megawatt-hours on Sunday, marking a decrease of 10.8% compared to Saturday.

Electricity production from imported coal constituted 28.4% of total generation, while lignite and natural gas plants contributed 16.3% and 16.2%, respectively.

On Sunday, the country’s electricity exports amounted to 5,636 megawatt-hours and imports totaled 19,638 megawatt-hours.
