Türkiye’s daily power consumption down 11% on Aug. 7

Daily electricity consumption in Türkiye decreased by 11% on Sunday compared to the previous day, totaling 908,561 megawatt-hours, according to official figures of Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) on Monday.

Hourly power consumption peaked at 41,529 megawatt-hours at 09.00 p.m. local time (1800 GMT), data from TEIAS showed. The country’s electricity usage dropped to the lowest level of 31,966 megawatt-hours at 07.00 a.m. local time (0400 GMT).

Electricity production amounted to 895,837 million megawatt-hours on Sunday, marking a decrease of 11.2% compared to Saturday.

Electricity production from imported coal plants constituted 19.8% of total generation, while wind plants and natural gas power plants contributed 18.42% and 18.40%, respectively.

On Sunday, the country’s electricity exports amounted to 10,924 megawatt-hours and imports totaled 23,647 megawatt-hours.
