Türkiye’s daily power consumption down 10.9% on Oct. 23

Daily electricity consumption in Türkiye decreased 10.9% on Sunday compared to the previous day, totaling 703,615 megawatt-hours, according to official figures of Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) on Monday.

TEIAS data showed that hourly power consumption peaked at 33,551 megawatt-hours at 7 p.m. local time (1600 GMT) and the country’s electricity consumption fell to a record low of 25,395 megawatt-hours at 8 a.m. local time (0500 GMT).

Electricity production amounted to 689,358 megawatt-hours on Sunday, marking an decrease of 11.13% compared to Saturday.

Imported coal plants contributed 31% of total generation, while lignite power plants and hydropower plants contributed 16.1% and 13.6%, respectively.

On Sunday, the country’s electricity exports amounted to 15,049 megawatt-hours and imports totaled 29,300 megawatt-hours.
