Türkiye’s Borsa Istanbul up at midweek’s open

ISTANBUL

Türkiye’s benchmark stock index opened at 3,139.55 points on Wednesday, up 0.58%, or 18.03 points, from the previous close.

On Tuesday’s close, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index was up by 1.93% to 3,121.52 points — a record high — with a daily trading volume of 68 billion liras ($3.75 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose slightly to 18.1309 as of 10.13 a.m. local time (0713GMT) versus 18.1270 at the previous close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate decreased to 18.0215 from 18.1070, while a British pound traded for 21.4237 Turkish liras, down from 21.5430 at the previous close.

Brent crude oil was selling for around $100.26 per barrel, while the price of an ounce of gold was $1,759.
