Türkiye’s BIST 100 index hits record level, topping 10,000 points for 1st time

ISTANBUL

The Turkish benchmark stock index closed the day with a new historic high level of 10,082.77 points on Monday, up 1.69% from the previous close.

After starting the day at 9,992.45 points, the BIST 100 index earned 167.15 points from Friday’s close, topping 10,000 points for the first time ever.

The lowest value of the index for the day was 9,942.14, while its daily high was at the close.

A total of 68 indexes gained value by the end of the day, while 32 declined.

The total transaction volume reached 100 billion Turkish liras ($3.08 billion), while the overall value of the index was 8.6 trillion liras ($265.7 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 32.3830 as of 6.25 p.m. (1625GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 34.7880, and the GBP/TRY traded at 40.5980.

The price of one ounce of gold was $2,337.10, while the barrel price of Brent oil was around $87.20.
