Türkiye’s BIST 100 index hits new record high at close

ISTANBUL

Türkiye’s benchmark stock index ended the midweek at a record high of 7,600.65 points, up 2.54% from the previous close.

Starting the day at 7,423.11 points, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index gained 188.45 points from Tuesday’s close.

The lowest value of the index during the day was 7,367.03, while its daily high was 7,644.59, a historic high.

The market value of BIST 100 was around 6.4 trillion Turkish liras ($238.7 billion) by market close.

The daily trading volume was 174.9 billion Turkish liras ($6.47 billion).

Some 67 stocks gained value, while 32 lost.

The price of an ounce of gold was $1,950.90, while Brent crude oil sold for $87.10 per barrel as of 5.55 p.m. local time (1455GMT).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 27.0320, the euro/lira exchange rate was 29.7030, and the British pound traded at 34.4260 Turkish liras.
