Türkiye’s BIST 100 index ends week in the red

ANKARA

Türkiye’s benchmark stock index closed Friday at 10,138.97 points, extending its losses to a fourth session.

After starting the day at 10,322.45 points, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index dropped 140.72 points, or 1.37% from the Thursday close.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 8.7 trillion liras ($269.5 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 71 billion liras ($2.21 billion).

On a weekly basis, the index lost 2.51% as of Friday close.

The price of an ounce of gold was $2,326.30, while Brent crude oil sold for around $79.66 per barrel as of 6.37 p.m. local time (1537GMT).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 32.3922, the euro/lira exchange rate was 35.0388, and the British pound traded at 41.2135 liras.
