Türkiye’s BIST 100 index closes Monday in the red

ANKARA

Türkiye’s benchmark stock index closed Monday at 7,728.44 points, plunging 2.34% from the previous close.

Starting the day at 7,920.28 points, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index lost 185.32 points compared to Friday’s closing value.

The lowest point reached by the index during the day was 7,723.18, while its highest point was 7,924.71.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 6.6 trillion liras ($227.4 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 78 billion liras ($2.7 billion).

The price of an ounce of gold was $1,997.55, while Brent crude oil sold for around $75.75 per barrel as of 7.17 p.m. local time (1547GMT).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 28.9848, the euro/lira exchange rate was 31.1680, and the British pound traded at 36.3798 liras.
