ISTANBUL
The Turkish benchmark stock index closed Thursday at 9,396.02 points, up 1.40%, or 129.93 points from the previous close.
The BIST 100 index started the day at 9,276.21, gaining 10.12 points from the close on Wednesday.
The lowest point for the index was 9,256.93, while the daily high was 9,438.32.
During the day, 71 indexes gained in value while 24 closed with losses.
The daily transaction volume reached 128.6 billion Turkish liras ($3.38 billion), while the overall value of the index was 8.53 trillion liras ($224.2 billion).
The USD/TRY exchange rate was 38.0640 as of 6.30 p.m. local time (1530GMT), the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 43.5765, and the British pound traded at 50.4525.
The price of an ounce of gold was $3,297.95, while the barrel price of Brent oil was $66.90.
