Türkiye’s Aksa Energy to build gas plant in Uzbekistan

by Anadolu Agency

Türkiye’s Aksa Enerji Uretim AS (Aksa Energy) has agreed with the National Electric Grid of Uzbekistan, affiliated with the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan, to build and operate a 430-megawatt natural gas combined cycle power plant in Talimarjan, the Turkish company announced on Friday.

Under the agreement, Aksa Energy will increase its capacity in Uzbekistan to 1,170 MW in total with the construction of the new Talimercan Natural Gas Combined Cycle Power Plant.

This arrangement comes after Aksa Energy’s commercial production at three power facilities in Tashkent and Bukhara with an installed capacity of 740 MW since the first quarter of last year.

The plant will begin construction upon the completion of all the necessary site preparatory work, and it is anticipated that the plant will be operational within a year once construction is finished.

The Uzbek government will provide free natural gas for electricity generation at the plant.

The electricity sales price has been determined based on a 25-year guaranteed capacity fee in US dollars.
