ISTANBUL
Türkiye on Friday “regretted” the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe’s (PACE) decision not to approve the credentials of the Azerbaijani delegation.
In a statement, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said: “This Resolution is incompatible with democratic values and undermines the right to equal representation.”
“It is also clear that this step, which means closing channels of cooperation and dialogue, will impede efforts towards regional peace and stability,” it added.
It also called on PACE “to address this mistake as soon as possible and focus on the efforts for peace in the South Caucasus.”
On Jan. 25 the PACE decided not to ratify the credentials of the Azerbaijani delegation, accusing it of not fulfilling the organization’s principles.
