Turkish flour exports in the first half of the year totaled 1.8 million tons, generating $680 million in revenue, said an industry group on Thursday.
Eren Gunhan Ulusoy, director of the International Association of Operative Millers (IAOM) Eurasia, said in a statement that Turkish flour exports were up 15% year-on-year this January-June.
In the same period, the flour sector did the largest share of its exports to Iraq, the African nation of Djibouti, and Syria.
Flour exports to Sudan soared 355%, Djibouti 323%, Egypt 291%, and Indonesia 105% year-on-year in the first half of the year.
The industry aims to have exported 4 million metric tons (4.4 million tons) of flour at $1.5 billion in total revenues by the end of 2024, said Ulusoy.
Türkiye is currently the largest exporter of flour worldwide, with a record 3.6 million metric tons (3.97 million tons) of flour exported in 2023.
