Turkish women booked their place at the Volleyball Nations League semifinals over an emphatic 3-0 win against Italy on Thursday.
Türkiye won the quarterfinal match with the sets of 25-20, 25-15, 25-18.
Turkish opposite Melissa Vargas had 16 points to lead her team in the match in US’ Arlington, Texas.
Turkish captain Eda Erdem Dundar scored 11 points at the College Park Center. Türkiye’s middle-blocker Zehra Gunes added 10 points.
Francesca Villani tallied 11 points to be Italy’s top scorer. Italian opposite Sylvia Nwakalor had 10 points. Villani and Nwakalor were the only Italy players to have scored in double digits.
In the semifinal, Türkiye will play against host nation US on Sunday in Arlington. Poland will take on China in the other semifinal match.
The women’s final will be held on July 17.
