Türkiye and Libya committed to enhancing cooperation in the field of vocational and technical education on Thursday under a deal signed by top officials from the two countries.

“The memorandum we will sign today will be a symbol of our strong cooperation and friendly relations,” Türkiye’s National Education Minister Yusuf Tekin said ahead of the signing ceremony with his Libyan counterpart Yahlif Said Al Sifav in the Turkish capital Ankara.

“This document will not only be a diplomatic text but will also make significant contributions to the education of our children and young people who will be involved in building our future,” he said, according to a statement by the Turkish National Education Ministry.

“Education is the most powerful instrument for economic growth and sustainable development at the national level,” said Tekin, expressing his desire to enhance cooperation, especially in the fields of education and culture.

Al Sifav, for his part, conveyed his country’s interest in benefiting from Türkiye’s experience in the use of technology in vocational education and in opening new courses in this field to meet Libya’s needs.

The memorandum of understanding aims to facilitate the sharing of information and experience on various matters related to vocational and technical education, including school management, recognition of prior learning, measurement of learning outcomes, and certification.
