ANTALYA, Türkiye
Some $20 million worth of cut flowers and door wreaths for Christmas and New Year’s Eve were exported to more than 30 countries from the Turkish resort city of Antalya.
Ismail Yilmaz, chairman of Ornamental Plants and Products Exporters’ Association, told Anadolu that they had been working in greenhouses for the past two months to prepare flowers for New Year’s Eve as well as Christmas.
“We exported $10 million worth of cut flowers and door wreaths also valued at $10 million for Christmas and New Year,” Yilmaz said.
He said that they exported flowers to more than 30 countries for the festivities, such as the Netherlands and the UK, as well as nearby countries such as Ukraine and Russia.
“We especially exported red carnations. Our exports are at the same level as last year. In fact, at the end of the month, I predict that we will see a slight increase in our exports compared to last year,” Yilmaz said.
