Türkiye broke a new record on Saturday when it generated 228,604 megawatt-hours of its daily electricity from wind energy, according to official figures on Sunday.
The last record for power generation from wind energy was 218,000 megawatt-hours, on Jan. 7.
Daily electricity consumption in Türkiye declined by 4% on Saturday compared to the previous day, totaling 1,025,573 megawatt-hours, data from Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) showed.
Hourly power consumption peaked at 47,573 megawatt-hours at 3 p.m. local time (1200 GMT), data from TEIAS showed.
The country’s electricity usage dropped to the lowest level of 35,233 megawatt-hours at 6 a.m. local time (0300 GMT).
Electricity production amounted to 1,016,062 megawatt-hours on Saturday, marking a drop of 4.3% compared to Friday.
Electricity production from wind constituted 22.5% of total generation, while imported coal and lignite plants contributed 20.2% and 13.7%, respectively.
On Saturday, the country’s electricity exports amounted to 6,981 megawatt-hours and imports totaled 16,492 megawatt-hours.
