Turkish Treasury posts $47.8B cash deficit in January-September

ISTANBUL

The Turkish Treasury’s cash balance saw a deficit of 1.54 trillion Turkish liras ($47.8 billion) in the January-September period, the Treasury and Finance Ministry said on Monday.

Last month, the Treasury’s cash revenues totaled 6.2 trillion Turkish liras ($191.8 billion).

Its expenditures – including interest payments of 849.8 billion Turkish liras ($26.28 billion) – amounted to 7.75 trillion Turkish liras ($239.6 billion).

In the nine-month period, the treasury’s non-interest expenditures amounted to 6.9 trillion Turkish liras ($213.4 billion).

The cash deficit of $47.8 billion represents the Treasury’s cash revenues minus expenditures, including interest payments, in the January-September period.

USD/TRY exchange rate was at 32.33 on average during the same period.
