Turkish stocks up at Thursday open

ANKARA

Türkiye’s benchmark stock index opened Thursday at 5,200.23 points, up 0.26%, or 13.40 points, from the previous close.

On Wednesday, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index closed at 5,186.83 points, falling 1.23%, with a daily trading volume of 57 billion Turkish liras ($2.42 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 23.5513 as of 09.55 a.m. local time (0655GMT), the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 25.8625, while a British pound traded for 30.0214 liras.

Brent crude oil was selling for around $76.94 per barrel, while the price of an ounce of gold was $1,938.35.
