Turkish stocks up at open

ISTANBUL

Türkiye’s benchmark stock index opened Tuesday at 4,631.13 points, up by 0.29%, or 13.2 points, from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index closed Friday at 4,617.93 points, down 3.58%, with a daily trading volume of 47 billion Turkish liras ($2.4 billion).

The stock exchange was closed for transactions on Monday due to May 1 Labor Day.

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was at 19.4690 as of 10.13 a.m. local time (0713GMT), the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 21.4140, while a British pound traded for 24.3405 Turkish liras.

Brent crude oil was selling for around $79.58 per barrel, while the price of an ounce of gold was $1,990.55.
