Turkish stocks begin new week at record high

ISTANBUL

Türkiye’s benchmark stock index opened Monday at 6,264.34 points, a record-high level, as it increased by 1.25%, or 77.25 points, from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index closed last week at 6,187.09 points, up 0.75%, with a daily trading volume of 99 billion Turkish liras ($3.8 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 26.1035 as of 10.05 a.m. local time (0705GMT), the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 28.6070, and a British pound traded for 33.4534 Turkish liras.

Brent crude oil was selling for around $78.05 per barrel, while the price of an ounce of gold was $1,928.85.
