Turkish stock exchange up over 1.5% at close

ISTANBUL

Türkiye’s benchmark stock index ended the midweek at 4.661,68 points, up 1.57% from the previous close.

Starting Wednesday at 4,605.61 points, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index earned 71.97 points compared to the previous close.

The index’s lowest value during the third transaction day was 4,599.79, while its daily high was 4,680.86.

The total market value of BIST 100 was around 3.85 trillion Turkish liras ($195.5 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 62.9 billion Turkish liras ($3.18 billion).

During the day, 85 stocks on the index rose and 14 fell compared to the previous close.

The price of an ounce of gold was $1,985.55, while Brent crude oil sold for around $75.5 per barrel as of 6.35 p.m. local time (1535GMT).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 19.7600, the euro/lira exchange rate was 21.4250, while the British pound traded at 24.6340 Turkish liras.
