Turkish stock exchange up more than 1% at open

ISTANBUL

Türkiye’s benchmark stock index opened the new week at 7,143.14 points, up by 1.07%, or 75.86 points from Friday’s close.

On Friday, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index closed at a historic high of 7,067.28 points, soaring by 3.08%, with a daily trading volume of 168 billion Turkish liras ($6.21 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 26.9650 as of 10.00 a.m. local time (0700GMT), the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 29.7090, and a British pound traded for 34.6570 Turkish liras.

Brent crude oil was selling for around $84.28 per barrel, while the price of an ounce of gold was $1,991.90.
