Turkish stock exchange up by 1.5% at close

ISTANBUL

Türkiye’s benchmark stock exchange ended Thursday at 4,959.80 points, soaring 1.49% from the previous close.

Starting the fourth transaction day of the week at 4,928.63 points, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index earned 72.89 points compared to the midweek’s close.

The index’s lowest value during Thursday was 4,928.63, while its daily high was 5,007.07.

The total market value of BIST 100 was around 4.14 trillion Turkish liras ($200.6 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 59 billion Turkish liras ($2.8 billion).

During the day, 84 stocks on the index rose and 14 fell compared to the previous close.

The price of an ounce of gold was $1,998.15, while Brent crude oil sold for around $74.86 per barrel as of 6.40 p.m. local time (1540GMT).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 20.8125, the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 22.5340, while the British pound traded at 26.0720 Turkish liras.
