Turkish stock exchange up at Thursday open

ANKARA

Türkiye’s benchmark stock index opened Thursday at 8,218.47 points, up 0.45%, or 36.80 points, from the previous close.

On Wednesday, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index ended the day at 8,181.67 points, down 0.66%, with a daily trading volume of 165 billion liras ($6.14 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 26.8215 as of 9.53 a.m. local time (0653GMT), and the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 28.7580, and a British pound traded for 33.5247 liras.

Brent crude oil was selling for around $90.31 per barrel, while the price of an ounce of gold was $1,943.45.
