Turkish stock exchange up at open

ISTANBUL

Türkiye’s benchmark stock index opened Thursday at 8,440.54 points, up by 1.32%, or 109.9 points, from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index closed Wednesday at 8,330.64 points, down 1.33%, with a daily trading volume of 132 billion Turkish liras ($4.75 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 27.7515 as of 10.40 a.m. local time (0740GMT), while the euro/lira rate stood at 29.5570 and a British pound traded for 34.1690 liras.

Brent crude oil was selling for around $86.20 per barrel, while the price of an ounce of gold was $1,893.15.
