Turkish stock exchange up at open

ISTANBUL

Türkiye’s benchmark stock index BIST 100 opened the new year at 9,858.10 points on Thursday, up 0.28% or 27.54 points from the previous close.

On Tuesday, the last transaction day of 2024, the BIST 100 index fell by 0.6% to 9,830.56 points, with a daily transaction volume of 86 billion Turkish liras ($2.43 billion).

The BIST 100 index gained over 31% in 2024, up from 7,470.18 points as of the end of 2023.

As of 10.00 am (0700GMT), the exchange rates stood at 35.3710 for the US dollar against the Turkish lira, 36.6565 for the euro, and 44.3210 for the British pound.

The price of one ounce of gold was $2,633.80, and Brent crude oil traded at $74.75 per barrel.
