Turkish stock exchange up at midweek’s open

ISTANBUL

Türkiye’s benchmark stock index opened Wednesday at 7,180.08 points, up by 0.16%, or 11.57 points from Tuesday’s close.

On Tuesday, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index closed at 7,168.51 points, down 0.67%, with a daily trading volume of 172.8 billion Turkish liras ($6.4 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 26.9670 as of 10.05 a.m. local time (0705GMT), the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 29.6420, and a British pound traded for 34.4425 Turkish liras.

Brent crude oil was selling for around $85.70 per barrel, while the price of an ounce of gold was $1,985.60.
