Turkish stock exchange up at Friday’s open

ISTANBUL

Türkiye’s benchmark stock index opened higher on Friday, the last transaction day of the year, at 7,415.27 points, up 0.26%, or 18.93 points, from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index closed Thursday at 7,396.34 points, up 1.87%, with a daily trading volume of 59 billion liras ($2.01 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 29.5320 as of 10.15 a.m. local time (0715GMT), the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 32.7330, and a British pound traded for 37.6960 Turkish liras.

Brent crude oil was selling for around $77.50 per barrel, while the price of an ounce of gold was $2,083.65.
