Turkish stock exchange up at Friday’s open

ANKARA

Türkiye’s benchmark stock index opened Friday at 5,518.51 points, up by 0.42%, or 23.03 points, from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index closed Thursday at 5,495.48 points, surging 2.51%, with a daily trading volume of 68.2 billion Turkish liras ($2.88 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 23.6723 as of 09.58 a.m. local time (0658GMT), the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 25.9207, and a British pound traded for 30.3101 Turkish liras.

Brent crude oil was selling for around $75.81 per barrel, while the price of an ounce of gold was $1,973.35.
