Turkish stock exchange up 2.37% at weekly close

ISTANBUL (AA) – The Turkish benchmark stock index closed the week at 9,109.34 points on Friday, up 2.37% from the previous close.

After the BIST 100 index started the day at 8,953.20 points, it gained 211.11 points from Thursday’s close.

The lowest value of the index for the day was 8,850.42, while its daily high was 9,109.34.

While 85 indices gained value during the day, 11 declined.

The total transaction volume reached 78 billion Turkish liras ($2.29 billion), while the overall value of the index was 7.9 trillion liras ($232.06 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 34.2495 as of 6.20 p.m. local time (1520GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 37.5500 and the GBP/TRY traded at 44.8745.

The price of an ounce of gold was $2,662.50, while the price of a barrel of Brent oil was around $78.30.
